Kimhi’s commentaries on the biblical books of the Prophets are well-known, and his strength as a grammarian of the Hebrew language can be seen in his writings. He explains words following their grammatical construction and etymological development, while his commentaries contain also rabbinical, philosophical and homiletical sources. Kimhi’s works were popular among Jewish and Christian readers and his commentary on the Former Prophets that Gershom Soncino published in 1511 in Pesaro is the second edition of this work. The first edition was printed by the Soncino in 1484 as an incunabulum.
