- Decoration: During the digitization, the readability has been prioritized over an accurate representation of the gilt grounds. As a result, the gilt looks flatter than it really is, but the images have increased readability. The sections of the decorations affected by this decision are described in the catalogue record as follows: The headings and statements of the number of verses are written in opaque white watercolour on gilt grounds in lozenges within rectangular frames at the top and bottom of each folio. The texts themselves are written in black ink on gilt and black plaited design, while the entire rectangular design on teach folio is enclosed by a similar gilt plaited frame.Dimensions: 151 × 95 mm (size of leaf).Record origin: Emile Savage-Smith, A Descriptive Catalogue of Oriental Manuscripts at St John’s College Oxford (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2005).MS 201 is a richly illuminated copy of the Qur’ān, probably made in Iran in the first half of the 16th century.
