ملخص: المجلد الأول من دراسة مجهولة عن الطب كُتبت بعد القانون في الطب لابن سينا (توفي ١٠٣٧م)، الذي تشير إليه كثيرًا بالإضافة إلى كتابات مجموعة النصوص المنسوبة إلى أبقراط (توفي حوالي ٣٧٠ قبل الميلاد)، خاصة الفصول.
المخطوطة ناقصة في البداية، وبداية المقالة الأولى مفقودة تم تجليد الأوراق دون ترتيب ومن الواضح أن بعضها مفقودة. وعلى الرغم من عدم وجود ترقيم عربي في المخطوطة يمكن استخدامه لتحديد ترتيب الأوراق الأصلي، فإنه يوجد عدة خصائص أخرى قد تساعد في ذلك. يوجد تسلسلان منفصلان لترقيم الأوراق بالأرقام القبطية في هوامش الحافة والرأس لصفحات الظهر، وهما يمتدان في الأغلب بالاتجاه المعاكس لتسلسل ترقيم الأوراق الحديث. Canon of Medicine(القانون في الطب), which it cites frequently along with writings from the corpus attributed to Hippocrates (أبقراط, d. ca 370 BC), especially the
Aphorisms(الفصول).The manuscript is defective at the beginning, missing the beginning of chapter (مقالة) one The folios have been bound out of order and some are evidently missing. Although the manuscript has no Arabic foliation that can be used to establish the original order of folios, a number of other features could help with this. Two separate sequences of foliation in Coptic numerals can be seen in the edge or head margins of versos and run for the most part in the opposite direction to the sequence of the modern foliation. Quire signatures in Arabic are visible in places, sometimes with indications of the number of folios (قائمة) in the gathering: quire 8 (f. 27r), quire 9 (37r), quire 23 of 12 folios (f. 79r), quire 22 of 12 folios (f. 96r), quire 12? (f. 103r), and quire 21 of 10 folios (f. 132r). Extracts of a work by the litterateur, poet and physician of Mosul Muḥammad Amīn Bek ibn Ibrāhīm Bek ibn Yūnus Afandī ibn Yāsīn Afandī al-Muftī ibn Maḥmūd Afandī (محمد أمين بك بن إبراهيم بك بن يونس أفندي بن ياسين أفندي المفتي بن محمود أفندي, d. ca 1812, see Raʾūf, 'al-Adīb al-ṭabīb Muḥammad Amīn Bek Āl Yāsīn al-Muftī al-Mawṣilī' [2016]), known as Amīn Bek Yāsīn Afandīzādah (أمين بك ياسين أفندي زاده, see. f. 165v, line 2), were copied into the manuscript by a grandson of that author (see ff. 1v-2r, 111, 116r, 140v-145r and 165v-171r), who left marginalia throughout the manuscript (see e.g. ff. 11v, 15r-v, 16v, 17v, 174v, and 180v).
