Abstract: Copy of a letter from HM Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Persia [Iran], Sir Harford Jones, to the Grand Vizier of the Shah of Persia, Meersa Sheffee [Mirza Muḥammad Shafī‘ Māzandarānī], of 22 August 1810. The letter relates to correspondence between the Persian Ambassador to France, Askar Khan [Askar Khan Afshar], and the Vizier of the Crown Prince of Persia, Mirza Buzurg (see IOR/L/PS/9/68/75). In the letter, Jones draws Meersa Sheffee’s attention to the fact that Askar Khan continues to act in his capacity as ambassador in France, in spite of the signature of the Preliminary Treaty between Persia and Britain, and requests that Askar Khan be recalled from Paris on the basis of the Anglo-Persian alliance.The letter was enclosed in Jones’s secret letter of 14 September 1810, which was received on 6 February 1811Physical description: 1 item (3 folios)
