Abstract: Translation of a letter from the Grand Vizier of the Shah of Persia, Meerza Sheffee [Mirza Muḥammad Shafī‘ Māzandarānī] to the Persian Ambassador at the Court of Paris, Askar Khan [Askar Khan Afshar]. The letter relates to the French Envoy, Georges Outrey, who was reported to be accompanying Askar Khan on his return journey to Persia (see IOR/L/PS/9/68/72). The letter welcomes Askar Khan’s imminent return, and instructs him to break ties will all French subjects, on account of the Anglo-Persian alliance, and to establish communication with His Britannic Majesty’s Minister Plenipotentiary at Constantinople [Istanbul], Stratford Canning.The letter was enclosed in HM Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to Persia, Sir Harford Jones’s secret letter of 14 September 1810, which was received on 6 February 1811.Physical description: 1 item (2 folios)
