Description:
Abstract: Copy of a letter from the Governor of Bombay, Sir Evan Nepean, to the Prince of Sheeraz [Shiraz], Ḥusayn ‘Alī Mirzā Farmānfarmā, of 9 October 1819. The letter communicates the intention of the British to send an expeditionary force to attack the Juwasemees [al-Qawasim] at Rasool Khyma [Ra’s al-Khaymah] and other ports in the Persian Gulf accused by the British of piracy. Nepean remonstrates against the failure of the Persian Government to check what he believes to be piratical activities at ports on the coast of Persia [Iran], particularly Lingua [Bandar-e-Lengeh], and calls upon the Prince of Sheeraz to assist the British in their intention of attacking these ports. The letter was enclosed in Nepean’s letter to HM Chargé d'Affaires to Persia, Henry Willock, of 9 October 1819 (see IOR/L/PS/9/68/210).Physical description: 1 item (4 folios)
