Abstract: A copy of a letter from Henry Willock, HM Chargé d’Affaires in Persia [Iran], to the Marquess of Londonderry [Viscount Castlereagh], Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, sent from Tehran and dated 1 April 1822.The letter concerns demands for payment and alleged threats against Willock from the Shah [Fath-‘Ali Shāh Qājār] in the context of arrears in subsidy payments to Persia. Willock reports his subsequent decision to leave the Persian Court. The letter also forwards Willock’s correspondence with Persian officials (IOR/L/PS/9/69/102-107).The letter was enclosed in Willock's letter to the Secret Committee of the Court of Directors of the East India Company dated 27 April 1822 (IOR/L/PS/9/69/100).Physical description: 1 item (8 folios)
