A copy of this Political Letter can be found at IOR/F/4/2238/112322, alongside details of further enclosures. The item is the twenty-ninth in a series of fifty-nine items on events in the Persian Gulf.The item relates to a letter from Moollah Houssein [Mullā Ḥusayn], Native Agent at Shargah [Sharjah], to Major Samuel Hennell, Resident in the Persian Gulf, dated 13 August 1847. The letter reports that Syf bin Humood [Sayf bin Ḥammūd], son of Syed Humood bin Azan the Chief of Sohar [Sayyid Ḥammūd bin ‘Azzān Āl Bū Sa‘īd, Shaikh of Suhar], had successfully escaped imprisonment and expelled his captor, Khuleelee [Khalīlī], the leader of the Mootawah [Muṭawwa‘īn].
