- Former owner: Oppenheim, David ben Abraham, 1664-1736Former owner: Yosef ben Me͗irFormer owner: Oppenheim, JosephFormer owner: Daṿid ha-ḲaṭanFormer owner: Oppenheim, GnendelOwnership inscription: Daṿid ha-Ḳaṭan sold it on 10 Ṭevet 5304 (17 December 1543 in the Gregorian calendar) to Yosef ben Me͗ir (on fol. 80v). David Oppenheim (1664-1736), Chief Rabbi of Prague, kept his Library in Hanover and left it to his only son, Joseph; after the latter’s death in 1739 it passed to his daughter Gnendel and moved to Hildesheim. In the 1820s the then owners put it up for sale, and after negotiations that started in 1826, it was sold to the Bodleian Library in 1828 for £ 2,080 and arrived in Oxford in 1829.
