Abstract: The file consists of correspondence and notes relating to Bahrain State jails and the employment of prisoners at the Political Agency. The correspondence is between the Adviser to the Government of Bahrain (Charles Dalrymple Belgrave), the Political Agency at Bahrain, the Political Residency in the Persian Gulf, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commonwealth Relations, Pakistan.The file covers several matters, including:a lack of availability of prisoners for working at the Political Agency;plans for relaying the Agency tennis court;a Bahrain Government request to purchase prisoner uniforms from the Government of Pakistan;rules for treatment of prisoners, including supplementary rules for European prisoners.Folios 38-40 are internal office notes.Physical description: Foliation: the main foliation sequence (used for referencing) commences at the front cover with 1, and terminates at the inside back cover with 44; these numbers are written in pencil, are circled, and are located in the top right corner of the recto side of each folio.
