- Abstract: The file contains applications made to the Political Agent, Bahrain, by local British and British Indian subjects, who were required by law to register as temporary or permanent residents of Bahrain. The file includes correspondence with individuals; businesses, such as the Bahrain Petroleum Company Limited (BAPCO) and the Eastern Bank Limited, about registering their British employees; and authorities such as the Bahrain State Police, who regularly processed applications for registration before forwarding them to the Political Agent. Related matters are also discussed in the correspondence: fines for late or non-registration; validity of passports; British nationality and naturalisation claims; rules and instructions about the registration requirement for British subjects. The file also includes: a request from Charles Dalrymple Belgrave (Adviser to the Government of Bahrain) for a birth certificate for his son, 1929 (folios 92-93); an annual return listing thirty-nine individuals who renewed or registered in Bahrain between 1929 and 1931 (folio 130); several letters in Arabic; black and white passport size photographs on forms and letters (folios 30, 31-97, 102, and 104); Persian [Iranian] postage stamps (folios 30-31); Indian and Iraqi revenue stamps (folios 82, 84, 91, and 104).Physical description: Foliation notes: The foliation sequence commences at the front cover with 1 and terminates at the inside back cover with 190; these numbers are written in pencil, are circled, and are located in the top right corner of the recto side of each folio. Three additional foliation sequences are also present in parallel between ff 1-63, ff 64-175, and ff 182-189; these numbers are also written in pencil, but are not circled. A previous foliation sequence present in parallel between ff 64-186, which is also circled, has been superseded and therefore crossed out.
