- Abstract: Correspondence and other papers relating to the Christian cemetery in Bahrain. The file’s principal correspondents are: the Political Agent at Bahrain (numerous incumbents); the Adviser to the Government of Bahrain (Charles Dalrymple Belgrave); representatives of the Arabian Mission in Bahrain, later referred to as the American Mission in Bahrain (Reverend Gerrit Dirk Van Peursem; Reverend G E De Dong; Edwin M Luidens).Correspondence covers:in 1932, the administration of the cemetery, and permission to extend the cemetery, granted by the Ruler of Bahrain, Shaikh Ḥamad bin ‘Īsá Āl Khalīfah;in 1933, the preparation of plans for the extension of the cemetery;from 1934 onwards, funding for the maintenance of the cemetery, including the Political Agency’s own annual donation until 1947;in 1949, a request for funding for the further extension to the cemetery.The file includes a plan of the cemetery (f 3), and a copy of the title deed for land gifted by the Bahrain Government for the extension of the cemetery in 1933 (f 16).Physical description: Foliation: The foliation sequence commences at the front cover with 1 and terminates at the inside back cover with 81; these numbers are written in pencil, are circled, and are located in the top right corner of the recto side of each folio.An additional foliation sequence is also present in parallel between ff 2-80; these numbers are also written in pencil, but are not circled.
