Abstract: The file contains correspondence regarding oil concession grants for land beneath the sea beyond the three mile territorial limit. The correspondence is principally between the British Agency at Sharjah, the Political Agency at Bahrain, and Shaikh Shakhbut bin Sultan Al Nahyan [Shakhbūṭ bin Sulṭān Āl Nahyān], the ruler of Abu Dhabi.The file covers the oil concession granted by Shaikh Shakhbut to the Superior Oil Company (California) for the subsoil beneath the sea beyond the three mile territorial limit.
