- Abstract: This printed memorandum is a draft scheme prepared by the War Office concerning a reconsideration of Britain's intelligence service in the Middle East. The memorandum includes sections covering British intelligence operations in Constantinople, Egypt, Mesopotamia, Southern Arabia and Somaliland, the Mediterranean, the Malay Straits (due to their connection with Hadramaut [Ḥaḍramawt]), Muscat and Zanzibar, India, Persia, Europe, and London. The establishment of; 'Arbur' branches 'throughout the Mohammedan theatres with a branch in London' is proposed. An explanatory diagram accompanies the memorandum on folio 69. 'A map of the World: Spheres for Middle East Intelligence' which also accompanied the memorandum has been separated and filed as 'IOR: Maps W/LPS/18B.329 (i)'.Physical description: Foliation: The foliation for this sequence commences at folio 66, and terminates at folio 70, as it is part of a larger physical volume; these numbers are written in pencil, are circled, and are located in the top right corner of the recto side of each folio. An additional foliation sequence is also present in parallel between folios 7-153; these numbers are also written in pencil, but are not circled, and can be found in the same position as the main sequence.
