Abstract: This item consists of copies and extracts of correspondence and minutes cited in, or enclosed with, letters to and from the governments of Bengal and Bombay [Mumbai].The item relates to the question of maintaining a Political Agent at Mocha. The East India Company Court of Directors expresses its opinion that, due to the failure to develop trade with Abyssinia [Ethiopia] and of the costs of procuring coffee from Mocha, maintaining a Political Agent in that port is not justified.
