Abstract: A copy of a letter from Brigadier-General John Malcolm, Envoy of the Supreme Government of India to Persia [Iran], to Lord Minto, Governor-General of Bengal, sent from a camp at Persepolis [Takht-e Jamshīd] and dated 17 May 1810. The letter forwards a report from Claudius Rich, Resident in Bagdad [Baghdad], concerning the murder of Captain Grant and Cornet Fotheringham on the road from Bagdad to Persia during a route survey ordered by Malcolm, and calls for their alleged killer, Kulb Aly Khan [Kalb ‘Ali Khān], to be punished.The letter was enclosed in Malcom’s dispatch to the Secret Committee of the Court of Directors of the East India Company dated 22 May 1810 (IOR/L/PS/9/67/74).Physical description: 1 item (2 folios)
