Abstract: Copy of a letter from the Governor of Bombay, Sir Evan Nepean, at Bombay Castle, to HM Chargé d'Affaires to Persia [Iran], Henry Willock, of 9 October 1819, in Tehran. The letter communicates the formation of an expeditionary force assembled for the purpose of attacking Rasul Khyma [Ra’s al-Khaymah], which is accused by the British of piracy in the Persian Gulf, detailing the composition of its land and naval forces. The letter also encloses Nepean’s letters to the Imaum [Imam] of Muscat (not included in this item, see IOR/L/PS/9/68/211) and the Prince of Shiraz (not included in this item, see IOR/L/PS/9/68/213).The letter was enclosed in Willock’s dispatch No. 31 to HM Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Viscount Castlereagh, of 26 December 1819 (see IOR/L/PS/9/68/209).Physical description: 1 item (2 folios)
