Description:
Abstract: Minutes of a conference between HM Chargé d'Affaires to Persia [Iran], Henry Willock, and the ministers of the Court of the Shah of Persia on 22 December 1819. At the conference was discussed the Governor of Bombay’s communication to the Prince of Shiraz regarding the British intention to send an expeditionary force to the Persian Gulf to attack the Juwasemees [al-Qawasim] at Ra’s al-Khaymah and other ports accused by the British of piracy, including ports on the Persian coast (see IOR/L/PS/9/68/213). The Persian ministers assented to the British intention of attacking the Juwasemees, but indicated their opposition to the British attacking ports on the Persian coast on the basis of these ports being under Persian jurisdiction. The minutes were enclosed in Willock’s dispatch No. 31 to HM Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of 26 December 1819 (see IOR/L/PS/9/68/209).Physical description: 1 item (4 folios)
