Abstract: Copy of a letter from Major-General Sir William Grant Keir, at Camp Rasal Khyma [Ra’s al-Khaymah], to HM Chargé d'Affaires to Persia [Iran], Henry Willock, of 15 December 1819. The letter concerns the British expedition to the Persian Gulf to attack the al-Qawasim and their allies, whom the British have accused of piracy. The letter reports the capture of Rasal Khyma by the British, and gives an account of the unconditional surrender of the al-Qawasim and their allies and the subsequent submission of other powerful independent rulers along the coast.The letter was enclosed in Willock’s letter to HM Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of 17 January 1820 (see IOR/L/PS/9/68/225).Physical description: 1 item (2 folios)
