- Abstract: A copy of a letter from Henry Willock, HM Chargé d’Affaires in Persia [Iran], to Lord Castlereagh, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, sent from Tehran and dated 26 May 1810. The letter reports a meeting with Mohammed Ali Mirza [Muhammad ‘Ali Mīrzā Dowlatshāh], the Prince-Governor of Kermanshāh. Willock remonstrates with the Prince-Governor for protecting Kelb Ali Khan [Kalb ‘Ali Khān], a local chief who had allegedly killed two British officers, Captain Grant and Cornet Fotheringham, on the road from Bagdad [Baghdad] to Isfahan during an 1810 route survey ordered by John Malcolm; and for intercepting East India Company 'Tartars' [couriers] passing through his territory.The letter was enclosed in Willock’s letter to the Secret Committee of the Court of Directors of the East India Company dated 26 May 1820.Physical description: Condition: the letter was perforated in an attempt to stop the spread of disease.
