- Abstract: A translation of a letter from the King [Shāh] of Persia [Iran] [Fath-‘Ali Shāh Qājār] to Lord Amherst, Governor-General of Bengal, received 31 March 1824.The letter concerns the subsidy account drawn up by the Accountant-General of Bengal in 1823, which detailed subsidy payments owed by Britain to Persia and charges deducted for goods and services provided to Persia. The King announces that Major George Willock will be sent to India to discuss disputed points in the account, and expresses hope that the subsidy issue will be swiftly settled in the interest of amicable relations between the two countries.The translation was enclosed in the letter of Henry Willock, HM Chargé d’Affaires in Persia, to the Secret Committee of the Court of Directors of the East India Company dated 4 April 1824 (IOR/L/PS/9/69/169).Physical description: 1 item (3 folios)
