Abstract: A message sent by Henry Willock, HM Chargé d’Affaires in Persia [Iran], to Dr John Cormick, Chief Physician to the Prince Royal [‘Abbās Mīrzā, Crown Prince] of Persia, to be read to the Prince Royal.The message concerns the proposed transfer to India of responsibility for diplomatic relations between Britain and Persia. Willock states that he will encourage the Supreme Government of India to send an Envoy to Persia if he can count on the Prince Royal’s support.The message was enclosed in Willock’s letter to the Secret Committee of the Court of Directors of the East India Company dated 18 October 1824 (IOR/L/PS/9/69/222).Physical description: The letter was perforated in an attempt to stop the spread of disease.
