Abstract: Copy of a letter from HM Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, George Canning, to the Prince Royal of Persia [Iran], Abbas Mirza [Crown Prince of Persia, ʿAbbās Mirza Qājār], of 20 July 1826. The letter is in reply to a request by the Prince Royal that HM Chargé d'Affaires to Persia, Henry Willock, be permitted to accept the award of the Order of the Lion and the Sun, bestowed upon him by the Shah of Persia for military services rendered during his attachment to the Persian army. Canning reports that the King of the United Kingdom is pleased to allow Willock to accept the award.This document was originally enclosed, as the first enclosure to enclosure No. 1, in Willock’s letter to the Secret Committee of the East India Company of 6 January 1827 (IOR/L/PS/9/70/168).Physical description: 1 item (4 folios)
