Abstract: Translation of a letter from the Governor-General of Georgia, General Yermaloff [General Aleksey Petrovich Yermolov], to the Surdar of Erivan, Hussein Khan [Sardar of Iravan or Yerevan, Ḥusayn Qulī Khan Qājār]. In the letter, General Yermaloff indicates his approval of the Surdar’s proposal for an exchange of prisoners of war to take place on the frontier between Russia and Persia [Iran]. He also indicates his approval of a proposal for commerce to continue unhindered, in spite of the ongoing war between Russia and Persia [Russo-Persian War, 1826-1828].This document was originally enclosed, numbered 6 in No. 40, in the letter of the East India Company Envoy to Persia, Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir, to the Secret Committee of the East India Company of 23 March 1827 (IOR/L/PS/9/70/192).Physical description: 1 item (2 folios)
