Abstract: Translation of a firman [a letter or order] from the Shah of Persia [Fatḥ-‘Alī Shāh Qājār] to the East India Company Envoy to Persia [Iran], Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir, dated Regib [Rajab AH 1243] or January [1828]. The Shah directs Macdonald Kinneir to assist the Prince Royal [ʿAbbās Mīrzā Qājār, Crown Prince of Persia] in concluding peace in the war between Russia and Persia [Russo-Persian War, 1826-1828], indicating that he has instructed the latter to renew negotiations with Russia.This document was originally enclosed, numbered 3 in enclosure No. 4, in Macdonald Kinneir’s letter to the Secret Committee of the East India Company of 16 March 1828 (IOR/L/PS/9/71/201).Physical description: 1 item (2 folios)
