Abstract: Translation of a firman [a letter or order] from the Shah of Persia [Fatḥ-‘Alī Shāh Qājār] to the East India Company Envoy to Persia [Iran], Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir, dated Rajeb or January [Rajab AH 1243 or January 1828]. The Shah indicates that he has ordered his son, Abbas Mirza [ʿAbbās Mīrzā Qājār, Crown Prince of Persia], to return and recommence negotiations for peace in the war between Russia and Persia [Russo-Persian War, 1826-1828], and that on the arrival of the money being paid to Russia as reparations, ‘nothing remains to prevent it’s [peace’s] conclusion’.This document was originally enclosed, numbered 6 in enclosure No. 4, in Macdonald Kinneir’s letter to the Secret Committee of the East India Company of 16 March 1828 (IOR/L/PS/9/71/201).Physical description: 1 item (2 folios)
