- Description:
- Abstract: Translation of a firman [a letter or order] from the Shah of Persia [Fatḥ-‘Alī Shāh Qājār] to Abbas Meerza [ʿAbbās Mīrzā Qājār, Crown Prince of Persia]. The Shah remonstrates against Abbas Meerza, expressing his surprise that he has not yet concluded peace in the war between Persia [Iran] and Russia [Russo-Persian War, 1826-1828]. He indicates that money for the payment of reparations to Russia has been dispatched and that the East India Company Envoy to Persia, Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir, has returned to Tabreez [Tabriz] to facilitate the conclusion of peace, and restates his previously given orders for Abbas Meerza to sign the peace treaty. This document was originally enclosed, numbered 8 in enclosure No. 4, in Macdonald Kinneir’s letter to the Secret Committee of the East India Company of 16 March 1828 (IOR/L/PS/9/71/201).Physical description: 1 item (2 folios)
