- Description:
- Abstract: Translation of a firman [a letter or order] from the Shah of Persia [Fatḥ-‘Alī Shāh Qājār] to Abbas Mirza [ʿAbbās Mīrzā Qājār, Crown Prince of Persia]. The Shah orders Abbas Mirza to conclude the agreement of peace in the war between Persia [Iran] and Russia [Russo-Persian War, 1826-1828], reporting that money for the payment of reparations has been dispatched, leaving no cause for delay. He urges that the peace be signed as soon as possible, highlighting the fact that in spite of some other of his sons being prepared to recommence hostilities, he has chosen to follow Abbas Mirza’s recommendation for peace. This document was originally enclosed, numbered 9 in enclosure No. 4, in the letter of the East India Company Envoy to Persia, Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir, to the Secret Committee of the East India Company of 16 March 1828 (IOR/L/PS/9/71/201).Physical description: 1 item (2 folios)
