- Description:
- Abstract: Translation of a letter from Abbas Meerza [ʿAbbās Mīrzā Qājār, Crown Prince of Persia] to the East India Company Envoy to Persia [Iran], Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir. Abbas Meerza indicates that he has received intelligence from the Persian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mirza Abul Hassan Khan [Mīrzā Abū al-Ḥasan Khān Shīrāzī], that money intended for reparations payments as part of the peace agreement to end the war between Russia and Persia [Russo-Persian War, 1826-1828] has been dispatched and is on its way, and that therefore he has contacted the Russian General-in-Chief, General Paskevitch [General Ivan Fyodorovich Paskevich-Erivansky, Governor-General of Georgia], to renew negotiations for the peace treaty. He directs Macdonald Kinneir to forward orders from General Paskevitch for the halting of the recommencement of hostilities, and also to let him know the place appointed for the recommencement of negotiations. This document was originally enclosed, numbered 1 in enclosure No. 5, in Macdonald Kinneir’s letter to the Secret Committee of the East India Company of 16 March 1828 (IOR/L/PS/9/71/201).Physical description: 1 item (2 folios)
