- Abstract: Copies of two letters from the East India Company Envoy to Persia [Iran], Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir, in Tabreez [Tabriz], to Abbas Meerza [ʿAbbās Mīrzā Qājār, Crown Prince of Persia], dated 8 February 1828 and 12 February 1828.In the first letter Macdonald Kinneir reports the unwillingness of General Paskevitch [General Ivan Fyodorovich Paskevich-Erivansky, Governor-General of Georgia] to nominate a place to meet for the signature of the peace treaty to end the war between Russia and Persia [Russo-Persian War, 1826-1828] due to the slow progress of the payment of reparations to Russia as stipulated in the treaty. He also indicates that General Paskevitch might be induced to evacuate the Province [of Azerbaijan] on the prompt payment of six and a half crores of tomauns [tomans].In the second letter Macdonald Kinneir reports that General Paskevitch has nominated Toorkoman-Chaee [Turkamanchay] as the place of meeting for the signature of the treaty.This document was originally enclosed, numbered 3 in enclosure No. 5, in Macdonald Kinneir’s letter to the Secret Committee of the East India Company of 16 March 1828 (IOR/L/PS/9/71/201).Physical description: 1 item (2 folios)
