- Description:
- Abstract: Translation of a letter from Meerza Aboul Hussan Khan [Mīrzā Abū al-Ḥasan Khān Shīrāzī, Foreign Minister of Persia] to the East India Company Envoy to Persia [Iran], Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir. The letter concerns the payment of reparations to Russia and the signature of the peace treaty to end the war between Russia and Persia [Russo-Persian War, 1826-1828]. Meerza Aboul Hassan Khan reports the arrival of a portion of the reparations at Zinjan [Zanjan] and the imminent arrival of another portion, and discusses the arrangements for conveying the money to Tabreez [Tabriz]. He also indicates that he is unwilling to join Macdonald Kinneir and Prince Abbas Meerza [ʿAbbās Mīrzā Qājār, Crown Prince of Persia] at the meeting with the Russian General-in-Chief, General Paskevitch [General Ivan Fyodorovich Paskevich-Erivansky, Governor-General of Georgia], to sign the peace treaty, but that he will attend if Macdonald Kinneir deems that he should. This document was originally enclosed, numbered 3 in enclosure No. 7, in Macdonald Kinneir’s letter to the Secret Committee of the East India Company of 16 March 1828 (IOR/L/PS/9/71/201).Physical description: 1 item (2 folios)
