- Description:
- Abstract: Correspondence from Manoocher Khan [Manūchihr Khān Gurjī, Mu‘tamid al-Dawlah], containing a letter, and a note enclosed with that letter, both of which are to the East India Company Envoy to Persia [Iran], Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir, and also a note to Macdonald Kinneir’s assistant, Dr John McNeill.Writing to Macdonald Kinneir, Manoocher Khan reports the imminent delivery of three crores of tomans to Casvin [Qasvin], which are intended to be paid as reparations to Russia as part of the peace treaty negotiated to end the war between Russia and Persia [Russo-Persian War, 1826-1828]. He details the original arrangements for the delivery in his first letter and indicates a change to the plan for the delivery in the enclosed note.Writing to McNeill, Manoocher Khan reports the arrival of a messenger with letters for him, which he has forwarded on, and indicates that the money will be dispatched as planned the following day. This document was originally enclosed, numbered 1 in enclosure No. 12, in Macdonald Kinneir’s letter to the Secret Committee of the East India Company of 16 March 1828 (IOR/L/PS/9/71/201).Physical description: 1 item (2 folios)
