Abstract: This bundle consists of summaries, and partial transcripts, of secret letters received from both the President in Council (21 April 1855, Numbers 25-27) and the Government of Bombay (30 April 1855, Numbers 31-34). The amount of detail for each entry therefore varies.The letters from the President in Council (folios 105-110) are predominantly concerned with internal opposition within Afghanistan to the proposed Anglo-Afghan Treaty of Friendship. An update on hostilities between Nepal and Thibet [Tibet] is also provided.The section from Bombay (folios 111-114) includes updates on a visit of ‘Arab Chiefs’ to Aden, Turkish Arabia, Persia, and the slave trade.Physical description: 1 item (10 folios)
