Abstract: This bundle consists of summaries of official secret letters received, from the Governor General of India in Council (16 May 1857, Numbers 23-25), and from Bombay (presumably the Government of Bombay) (27 May 1857, Numbers 105-115).The summaries of letters from the Governor General relate to China, the murder of Lieutenant Hand near the Khyber Pass, and the Ameer [Emir] of Afghanistan. The summaries of letters from Bombay concern Persia, the Indian Mutiny [Rebellion or Uprising], Aden, Judda [Jeddah], and Perim.The bundle also includes summaries of two letters from Mr Hyslop at Baghdad (9 and 11 May 1857), regarding bills being drawn from England.Physical description: 1 item (8 folios)
