- Abstract: The item consists of copies and extracts of correspondence and resolutions cited in, or enclosed with, an extract Political Letter from the Government of Bombay to the East India Company Court of Directors, 27 March 1846.The item relates to a query from the Court of Directors as to whether the pendals [temporary buildings, also rendered as pendalls], and the ground on which they were built, at Aden are still being used for their original purpose of temporarily accommodating European troops. A response from Stafford Bettesworth Haines, Captain in the Indian Navy and Political Agent at Aden, is included.The title page of the item contains the following references: ‘Bombay Political Department’, ‘P.C.
