- Abstract: This item consists of copies of correspondence, minutes, and consultations cited in, or enclosed with, political letters from the Government of Bombay. These political letters appear in IOR/F/4/2302/118727. The main correspondents are the Government of Bombay and Commander John Croft Hawkins, Senior Naval Officer in the Persian Gulf. It is the thirty-first in a series of fifty-one items on the Persian Gulf.The item concerns the return of Midshipman Heathcote and the batta [allowance] to be paid to him for travelling to Batavia [Jakarta] on the Dutch brig Lorkasat the request of Hawkins. This was due to a dispute between the owner and Captain of the vessel.
