- Abstract: This item consists of copies of correspondence and consultations cited in, or enclosed with, political letters from the Government of Bombay to the East India Company Court of Directors. These political letters appear in IOR/F/4/2550/149197. It is the third in a series of sixteen items on the Persian Gulf. The correspondents are the Government of Bombay and Captain Arnold Burrowes Kemball, Resident in the Persian Gulf.The item concerns the settlement of the claim made by Sheik Saeed ben Guzeel the Governor of Lingah [Shaikh Sa‘īd bin Qaḍīb, Shaikh of Bander-e Lengeh] against the bugla [baghlah] Mahmoodee[ Maḥmūdī] as a result of the death of one of his dependents at the hands of the ship’s crew, while at the port of Nukheeloo [Bandar-e Nakhilu]. Kemball reports that Hajee Mahomed Bakir [Ḥājjī Muḥammad Bāqir], the nakhoda [nakhuda] of the Mahmoodee, has made a payment to settle the case.The item contains a table of contents (f 459), and the title page (f 458) contains the following references: Draft N[umber] 358 - 1854’, ‘Collection No. 10 of No. 84 of 1853.
