- Abstract: The item consists of copies and extracts of correspondence and resolutions cited in, or enclosed with, an extract of a Political Letter from the Government of Bombay to the East India Company Court of Directors, 14 October 1854. The item is the second in a series of nine items on events in the Persian Gulf 1853-54. The enclosures are dated 4 July 1854-7 October 1854.The item relates to attempts by the Government of Bombay to obtain reparations from Shaikh Humud bin Mujdel, Amaieer 'Chief' [Ḥamad bin Majdal al-‘Umayrī, ‘Amāyir Ruler of Jana], following his involvement in the sale of enslaved people at Bahrein [Bahrain], the murder of three men from Katiffe [Qatif], and the plunder of a boat belonging to Kowait [Kuwait].
