Abstract: Copies of three letters from Harford Jones, Resident in Bagdad [Baghdad], to Marquess Wellesley, Governor-General of Bengal, sent from Bagdad and dated 12 May-16 May 1801.The letters concern a proposal by the Pashaw [Büyük Sulaymān Pāshā, Governor in Baghdad] for a loan of British troops from India to secure his rule in the Bagdad [Pashalik]. Jones supports the proposal in the interests of defending the route to India from French advances. The proposal is eventually withdrawn by the Pashaw.Physical description: 1 item (4 folios)
