A letter from Henry Dundas, President of the Board of Control of the East India Company, to Harford Jones, Resident in Bagdad [Baghdad], sent from Wimbledon and dated 16 March 1801, forwarding a letter to Captain John Malcolm, Envoy of the Governor-General of Bengal to India (not enclosed).2. A letter from Lord Elgin, HM Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire, to Harford Jones, sent from Constantinople [Istanbul] and dated 24 April 1801. In response to Jones’s letter dated 6 April (see IOR/L/PS/9/76/149), Elgin addresses Jones’s complaints concerning ‘Tartars’ [couriers] in Bagdad.3.
