Abstract: This item consists of a Political Despatch from the Government of India Foreign Department to the Secretary of State for India, dated 23 January. The despatch acknowledges receipt of the Secretary of State for India's Secret and Political Department Despatch No. 242 dated 5 December 1873, giving cover to an authenticated English translation of the recent Slave Trade Treaty with the Sultan of Zanzibar, and points out an apparent discrepancy in Article II of the translation as compared with the same Article of the proposed Treaty modified by Dr John Kirk, the Political Agent and Consul, Zanzibar.
