Abstract: This item consists of a copy of a Political Despatch from the Government of India Foreign Department to the Secretary of State for India, dated 20 November 1874, reporting the transfer of Colonel Charles Herbert to the Political Agency at Oodeypoor [Udaipur], and the appointment of Lieutenant-Colonel John Pigott Nixon as Political Agent in Turkish Arabia [Ottoman Iraq]. The despatch requests that Lieutenant-Colonel Nixon be invested with the powers of a Consul-General.
