- Date:
- 1822/1822
- Description:
- Abstract: The item consists of a memorandum, dated 14 March 1822, relating to the 1820 and 1821 expeditions against the Beni Boo Ali [Banū Bū ‘Alī], inhabitants of Jalan province and nominally under the authority of the Imaum [Imam] of Muscat [Sayyid Sa‘īd bin Sulṭān Āl Bū Sa‘īd]. The justifications for the expeditions were alleged acts of ‘piracy’ and for the murder of a member of the Imaum’s government. The memorandum gives an account of the two expeditions and questions the motives behind them. Following this report is an extract of the Bombay Political Consultations of 30 May 1821 containing a petition from Mahomed Ben Ali [Muḥammad bin ‘Alī], a Beni Boo Ali leader, to the Bombay Government for his release from imprisonment, dated 24 May 1821, and an order passed by the latter explaining why it can't be granted.Physical description: 1 item (4 folios)
