Abstract: The item consists of notes relating to communications sent by Major Henry Willock, HM Chargé d’Affaires at the Court of Persia [Iran] in Tehran, to the Secret Committee, dated between 24 February and 17 April 1820. A list of the dispatches referred to in the notes is given on folio 501 and these communications are also noted in the margin when referenced. The dispatches concern British measures to counter ‘piracy’ in the Persian Gulph [Gulf], including the naval expedition against Ras-ul-Khyma [Ra’s al-Khaymah] in 1819, British plans to establish a settlement on an island in the Gulph, and the plans of Persia and the Imaum [Imam] of Muscat to take the island of Bahrein [Bahrain].Physical description: 1 item (13 folios)
