- Abstract: This part of the volume consists of a copy of an enclosure to a despatch from the Government of Bombay Secret Department to the Secret Committee, Number 94[?] of 1840.The enclosure consists of a letter from Captain Atkins Hamerton, on mission to Muskat [Muscat], to the Chief Secretary to the Government of Bombay, Lestock Robert Reid, dated 13 October 1840. Hamerton reports news including: the arrival of a large gooncha (a vessel similar to a bugla) at Muskat from Bahrein [Bahrain]; the death of Nassir Ullah Khan [Naṣr[?] Allāh Khān], the ferman ferman [Firman Firma] of Shiraz; the report of the King of Persia [Shāh of Iran] having concluded a peace for one hundred thousand toomans [tomans] with the Pasha of Baghdad being untrue; relations between the Governor of Shargah [Sharjah], Hisson Suggur [Ḥasan[?] Saqr] and his father the Chief of Rasel Khymah [Ras Al Khaimah], Sultan bin Suggur [Shaikh Sulṭān I bin Ṣaqr al-Qāsimī]; and relations between the Imam of Muskat and the ‘Chief’ of Sohar, Hamard bin Azan [Ḥamūd bin Azan Āl Bū Sa‘īd].Physical description: 1 item (4 folios)
