The item relates to requests for compensation by Dr John McNeill following the cancellation of his appointment as Resident at Bushire [Būshehr]. In particular, the item refers to the reasons for the cancellation and the extent to which the Government of Bombay should take responsibility for McNeill's expenses and losses, which are detailed in the correspondence.
