- Description:
- Abstract: A translation of a letter addressed by the Vizier to the Crown Prince of Persia [Iran], Mirza Abul Cassim, the Cayim Mukam [Mirza Abu'l-Qasim Farahani, Qa'im Maqam], to the Russian Foreign Minister, Count [Karl Robert] Nesselrode. In the letter, the Cayim Mukam indicates that according to ‘the Russian Gazettes’, the causes of the outbreak of war between Russia and Persia [Russo-Persian War, 1826-1828] have been misrepresented to the Russian Government by the Russian ‘Frontier Authorities’ in Georgia, and announces the dispatch of Mirza Mohomed Alli [Mirza Muhammad 'Ali Khan Shirazi] to Tiflis [Tbilisi] and St Petersburgh [St Petersburg] with instructions to discuss the matter with Count Nesselrode. The Cayim Mukam also blames the frontier authorities for the outbreak of war, and indicates that the Shah of Persia wishes for peace. This translation was originally enclosed, numbered 1, in the letter of the East India Company Envoy to Persia, Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir, to the Secret Committee of the East India Company of 11 February 1827 (IOR/L/PS/9/70/179).Physical description: 1 item (4 folios)
