- Abstract: Translation of a firman [a letter or order] from the Shah of Persia [Iran], Futteh Ali Shah [Fatḥ-‘Alī Shāh Qājār], to the East India Company Envoy to Persia, Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir. The letter concerns the payment of reparations to Russia as part of the peace treaty negotiated to end the war between Russia and Persia [Russo-Persian War, 1826-1828]. The Shah expresses his approbation for Macdonald Kinneir’s ‘exertions and trouble’, and indicates that he has issued orders for the payment of another crore of tomans to Russia for the evacuation of the province of Aderbijan [Azerbaijan].This document was originally enclosed, numbered 2 in dispatch No. 91, in Macdonald Kinneir’s dispatch No. 34 to the Secret Committee of the East India Company of 28 March 1828 (IOR/L/PS/9/71/253).Physical description: 1 item (2 folios)
