The correspondence consists of letters between: the Court of Directors, East India Company; George Swinton, Chief Secretary, Government of Bengal; Andrew Stirling, Acting Chief Secretary, Government of Bengal; and Lieutenant Colonel Macdonald (John Macdonald Kinneir), British Envoy at the Court of Persia [Iran].
